Catching Fire -- I've made one red and two pink so far. Sold both pink and going to make more colors soon to sell on my Etsy page. What do y'all think?

As much as I love to write, I sure am awful at keeping journals and blogs. I love to write, but I can't stand to be 'required' to write, or have some standard/expectation to write at a certain time.

So, last weekend, my friends' band Under The Gun had shows two days in a row that I tagged along (like I usually do).

So, the army came and picked up Joseph Monday morning to take him to Dallas and process him for basic training. Tuesday afternoon I got a text from him telling me he was getting on the plane...so I guess I have two months of missing him ahead of me. He took my address with him, but he has never been one to write people, and is convinced that he won't write anyone, including his family (or me *sad face*). However, everyone else keeps telling me that it's different when you're actually at basic. One friend actually told me he hadn't wrote a single letter his entire life, and then he went to basic and was writing anyone and everyone who could think to write to. I guess we'll see what happens. Joseph is pretty stubborn though...I could honestly see him writing me the letter, then refusing to send it just so I won't know that he 'was wrong'. *laugh*

I am really excited. I got my art piece from Nathan Monk in the mail today. I already put it on my shelf next to my monkey!

I saw this video for the first time at my friend Kristan's house. Kristan, her boyfriend Adam and I were having some weird YouTube marathon...don't ask...and Adam showed it to us. It is just a really awesome song. If a guy sang a song like this to me, I'm nerdy enough that I would probably fall in love with them. Haha. Old school video games, ftw! <3

The Zac Brown Band performed today as part of the 'Fort Hood Community Strong' event held today at Fort Hood, Texas. This gathering was meant as a way for the families to heal and spend time together after the horrific shooting on Nov 5th. Headlining for them was Nic Cowan, Levi Lowrey & Sonia Leigh. Each of these artists performed a song before Zac Brown, and then joined in on a few of their songs later on.
As expected, they were amazing, and even performed their own rendition of Devil Went Down To Georgia. Each person took their own turn playing a solo, and Zac Brown's fingers were moving so fast. Twice, the band had to stop because a little girl was lost, and they wouldn't go on playing until the little girl was found. Brown kept repeating her description, asking everyone to look around for her, and notify a police officer, or bring her up to the stage.
I was lucky (and short) enough to make my way pretty close to the stage, and a couple of my friends caught t-shirts and Frisbees. After playing Chicken Fried (the song everyone kept chanting to play) the band was supposed to be finished, and a lot of people left. However, a few of us stayed by the stage asking for an encore. Brown responded with, "You think I'm scared? I'm not scared. We'll play you another!" and then played yet another song for his fans.
The general made an announcement that they didn't even ask the band to play until about two weeks ago, but they really wanted to be there, so they made sure they were. Also, Dana Carvey introduced the band, and helped entertain the crowd while the band had some technical difficulties. Overall, a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, I missed out on most of the other events at the beginning of the day, where many other performances took place, and a carnival was held as well.

So, I just thought it was too funny not to comment on this. I was messing around online, checking out my wonderful and amazing Google Wave*, when Chrome warned me that 'This page contains some insecure content'.

I couldn't help but giggle at this. If Google cannot even trust itself, who can it trust?

*insert sarcastic tone here.

Who am I?
I am my mother's daughter. Daddy's little girl. All grown up, and still just a scared child. My brother's sister, and step-sister's friend. Step-daughter. Grandchild. Someone's past relationship. Lover. Best friend. Worst enemy. A winner and an over-achiever, who has failed too many times. Short, but tall to people who are 3 or 5. Role model. Teacher. A good and bad influence... All at once. An only daughter in a family of three girls. Sister to an only son. A dreamer. Naive. Out to see the good in everyone. My own entertainment. A writer. A Poet. Someone with a dream. Caretaker. Irish...so kiss me! A flirt, and a tease. Invisible. Reflective. Happy just the way I am. A verbal artist. Repetitive. Verbose, and talkative. Energetic. Tired. Athletic. Not always who I want to be, Or as thin as I want to be...But then again, who is? Amused by little graphics, almost every movie I've ever seen, the stupidest jokes...and well, just, easily amused, I guess. Running out of space... Friendly. Bold. Romantic. Hopelessly devoted. Beautiful in my own way. Blond. Shy until I know someone. Passive but defensive. Hard working. Happy with life. In like. In love? Loving myself. Always me.
Shannyn.
